Editorial | Game of Thrones S4E10, Finale Reaction **SPOILERS**

This review will be discussing plot points which may be considered spoilers. Consider yourselves warned.

Typically in my editorials, I try to write about geeky things from an academic perspective.  Today I say, “Forget all that!”  I just want to talk about the AMAZING Game of Thrones finale from last night.  I know that emotions were at peak level before the show and that many areas of the internet are suffering from a meltdown after, so this is a great time to discuss the show and what I liked and disliked.  Feel free to join the conversation in the comments, or on Facebook or Twitter.  (I know that not everyone has gotten to see the show yet, so I’m gonna just drop a page break in here to keep anyone from accidentally being spoiled.)

Editorial | The (re)Rise of the Anthology

A few months ago, I attended a convention panel on the resurgence of the anthology in which the panelists asked attendees what motivated them to buy anthologies.  Answers ranged from famous contributors, to well-known serial publications, such as L. Ron Hubbard’s Writers of the Future.  This highlights a huge problem that I see in anthology collections:  it is difficult to page through them and purchase them on a whim.

Editorial | Six Reasons Supernatural is a Terrible TV Show [updated]

A few months ago, I wrote an editorial post that listed several reasons that Supernatural is a terrible TV show.  While my assessments of the faults of the show were correct, they were not complete.  Since that post still seems to get viewed daily (which we mentioned in Episode 5 of Random Thought Generator), I am updating my list.  So here is the new and improved set of reasons that Supernatural is a terrible TV show (and why I will continue to watch it).

1.)  Every adversary that Sam and Dean Winchester face is supposedly bigger and badder than the last adversary, but actually seems easier to kill.  This whole show started with John Winchester’s lifelong search for Azriel, the yellow-eyed demon who killed his wife.  John has been praised over and over (even posthumously) as being one of the best hunters who ever lived, and yet it took him a lifetime to find this demon and kill it.  These days, his sons discover big baddies and polish them off in the course of twenty episodes or so with relatively little effort. Editorial | Review, X-men: Days of Future Past *Spoilers*

***** SPOILER ALERT *****

This review will be discussing plot points which may be considered spoilers. Consider yourselves warned.

The phrase “summer blockbuster” may as well have been coined for X-men: Days of Future Past.  This monolith of cinema was released on Thursday, just in time to dominate the long, holiday weekend, and I went and saw it twice in preparation for this review (mostly because I forgot my notebook the first time, but I digress).

While comic fans probably have a lot of gripes about this movie, and rightly so (yes, this was supposed to be Kitty Pryde’s movie; yes, some of the characters were not true to their comic book profiles), the movie itself was an entertaining ride from start to finish.
