My first week of the Fit 4 Con Challenge is over and I’ve lost 1 pound. I was hoping for a little more, but given that it’s Week 1 and it was a holiday week, I’m not too worried about it. I am however more than a little sore from this week. I’d forgotten how much these first couple weeks can hurt. Of course it’s totally worth it. Right now I’m doing 30 minutes on the elliptical plus so basic weight lifting. Once I get back into the swing of things I’ll start to add in more lifting to target specific problem areas. 95 more days and I can totally do this!

Independence Day is always a fantastic excuse for a cookout. Thanks to Wired, we have a pair of competing articles trying to win that age old argument of gas vs. charcoal. This time they’re using science. I love it when food and science mix.
This is why my grill has both gas and charcoal. I win!
A Dallas auction house will soon be auctioning off the original cover from Batman: Dark Knight Returns #2. This is one of the most ground-breaking comics in history and one of the two that started the Modern Age of comics. And it just looks cool.
Any body have a few hundred thousand dollars I can borrow?
I guess even Dark Lords of the Sith need to stay in shape someone how.
Seriously though, they are willing to call nearly anything a world record at this point.

Apparently the Lock Ness Monster is may actually be a fault running under the lake. Somehow I don’t think this theory will quiet down the nut case conspiracy theorists, but that’s just me.
I’m a little disturbed that people can’t tell the difference between a prehistoric sea monster and a log. Yeah, that really happened.
Two of Pluto’s moons have brand new names, but Vulcan isn’t one of them (sorry Bill Shatner). I had absolutely no idea Pluto had 5 moons!
Why is is that we only have one moon and its got the most lame name. Can’t we come up with something better than “The Moon”. I mean for crying out loud, we’ve actually been to our moon.
Speaking of outer space, this trailer was just released. The film is made using all real photos from years of space missions. This is definitely going on my calendar, even if it will be Spring 2014.
This is absolutely gorgeous. While I realize that beauty is no reason to explore the universe, it sure is one hell of a bonus.
