Star Wars: The Force Awakens: A Spoiler FREE Review

untitled

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is probably the most anticipated movie of 2015, and probably one of the most anticipated movies of the last ten years—at least, since Revenge of the Sith premiered back in 2005. When it was announced, and especially after the disappointment of the prequel trilogy, hopes were high but expectations were fairly low that Force Awakens could come in a save our faith in Star Wars. However, now that it is here, the general consensus (and my personal opinion) is that Force Awakens is one of the strongest movies yet. Continue reading

Saturday Review: Black Knight #2

black knight 1

Black Knight (Marvel)
Writer: Frank Tieri
Artists: Luca Pizzari and Kev Walker

To say that Marvel has released a storm of number one issues is an understatement. It’s more of a Category 5 hurricane and even that may be selling things short. The Sheriff of Babylon (Vertigo)
Writer: Tom King
Art: Mitch Gerads

I’m not sure exactly how this happened, but right from the get-go I found myself thinking how awesome Storm looks. She’s got a great new costume and still retains the bad-ass mohawk. The story also starts off with Storm in an interesting place. She is now headmaster of the Xavier Institute (or whatever the name happens to be in this particular iteration) and things are going badly for mutants. When one thinks about everything bad that has happened to mutants over the years, this is not really a surprise, but Storm’s attitude makes me feel like this is something different. Continue reading
