Editorial | Why I Read Vonnegut

On an earlier podcast, I briefly mentioned the story of why I finally started reading Kurt Vonnegut. It’s actually a rather embarrassing story: I like watching repeats of Criminal Minds on Netflix while doing laundry (folding clothing is insanely boring and requires distraction). The show doesn’t always have the most erudite plotlines, but I found myself intrigued by and then identifying with the FBI agent Emily Prentiss. In the second season, she confessed to Agent Derrick Morgan that she was a “huge nerd” who loved to read Vonnegut, a fandom that they share. Continue reading

Therefore I Geek Podcast Episode 27, Return of the Federali

The lemongrass incident one, in which Mike Federali returns to the Therefore I Geek podcast with more whimsical conversation than ever before.  Topics include the upcoming spring Tidewater Comicon show, Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillion’s new project Con Man, whether or not J. R. R. Tolkien’s middle initials stand for “Really Rad” (hint: they do), and an impassioned plea for all Disney stores to sell Marvel comics from now on.

Therefore I Geek Podcast Episode 26, All Grown Up: Childhood Rebooted

In which, Tracy, Andrew, Kyle, and Shane McNulty converse about stuff from our childhoods that has been rebooted, specifically Power Rangers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers, and GI Joe.  We also get a little sidetracked into discussions of Game of ThronesHannibal, Blair Witch Project, and whether or not Jason Statham is actually a good actor.  Shane would also like to shout out to his niece Rhiana for getting into Harvard!
