As of yesterday, Star Wars Episode VII has officially wrapped shooting, and what better way to celebrate than by announcing the name for the newest addition to the family? Episode VII will officially be known as The Force Awakens. I’ve made no secret of my love for this particular franchise and I’m pretty pleased with the name. It gives us some inkling of what is to come, while avoiding the something painfully obvious, like Attack of the Clones. I’m not the only one who feels this way either. While I’m a little more forgiving of the name The Phantom Menace than most people, I generally agree with this article. J.J. Abrams is doing the best he can as the director of this project, and I think we’re going to get a great movie out of it. If he handling of Star Trek is any indication, he has both the skills and the creativity to make this happen.
We’ve also recently gotten some indications as to what part of the plot might be, however I will just link it here. I know how people get about spoilers.
Staying on the Star Wars theme for a moment, we have a brand new parody video from Team Unicorn. The production team that has already given us “G33k & G4m3r Girls” a parody of Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” now provides us with “All About That Base“, a cover of the similarly spelled “All About That Bass.” With their Darth Vader costumes, Stormtroopers, and Death Star backgrounds, this is a truly entertaining video. I’d also like to say that Team Unicorn’s singing skills have improved, as they are on key for a much larger percent of the time. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t like a little sass from their Sith Lords?
The down side of this is that I will now have the song stuck in my head for days.
Finally, we have the brand new trailer for the upcoming The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies. I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that this film and the previous one should have been a single movie. Regardless, I’m excited to see it, especially the death of Smaug and the dwarf army. I love the look of their weapons and armor. Also, of the three major races in Middle Earth, dwarves are the only one from whom we haven’t seen a full army. We’ve seen some of them being routed in the first film and we’ve had a description from Gimli in The Two Towers, but we haven’t seen them yet. I think it’s high time we did!
I’m hoping that this film won’t feel nearly as bloated as the last.

thanks for sharing! love both franchises! I’m from New Zealand, and my son was chosen as an extra, his scene even ended up on the final version of Hobbit 2.
